Warm Wishes for the Upcoming Season - 11/18

As we approach the holiday season, can we meet our days with a different approach to our comings and goings. Given the culture’s shocking news reports that can create confusion and despair and the grind and pressure of our many commitments, can we intentionally bring awe and wonder to our moments?

Perhaps, we change our questions a bit from...

“What should I do and what can I do?” said with a furrowed brow to

“How can I center myself and respond with care in this moment?"

Do you feel the difference in the questions?

Maybe it’s a time to remain silent.

Perhaps it’s a chance to speak our truth or commit an act of service. Or maybe it’s a moment to pause, breathe and notice what is right in front of us. Awe and wonder happen more frequently when we pause and get out of our heads and into our senses.

The slant of light reflected on the floor, the warmth of a hand on another’s hand, the light of moonlight on the back porch, and the Mississippi River at sunset are moments that can go unnoticed. These slivers in time point to something larger and vaster that we are a part of yet can not fully understand. Glimpses of ordinary wonder soothes our nervous systems and opens our hearts to fully inhabit our days.

…. I choose to inhabit my days,

to allow my living to open me,

to make me less afraid,

more accessible;

to loosen my heart

until it becomes a wing,

a torch, a promise….”
